Golden Eagle winner soars
to the top
C ongratulations to District 14’s Edward W. Lewis, winner of the 2006–2007 Cooperative Charting Golden Eagle Award. Each year, this prestigious award goes to the district Cooperative Charting chairman with the most outstanding record.
To achieve this distinction, the chairman must be from one of the top five eligible districts and must demonstrate exceptional achievement and innovation in programs, communications or training efforts.
The Cooperative Charting Committee receives letters from the commanders of eligible districts detailing the accomplishments of their district Cooperative Charting chairman. After evaluating the letters, the committee selects one winner.
Lewis joins past Golden Eagle Award winners, who all have shown exemplary efforts in furthering Cooperative Charting and helping maintain the accuracy of the nautical charts we all depend upon.
Author’s note: If you know who the recipients were for the years 1988–89, 1990–91, 1991–92, 1995–96, 1997–98 and 2000–01, please contact me so our records will be complete.
