Scouts bestow prestigious award on USPS chief

C/C Ernie Marshburn, SN, receives the Distinquished Eagle Scout AwardC/C Ernest G. Marshburn, SN, of Tar River Sail & Power Squadron, received the Distinguished Eagle Scout Award at the 2007 Annual Meeting in Jacksonville, Fla.

Marshburn was recognized for his achievements as director of strategic initiatives at East Carolina University and for his distinguished service to USPS and other civic organizations, including the Children’s Miracle Network Telethon, United Way and Boy Scouts of America.

Established in 1969, the Distinguished Eagle Scout Award acknowledges Eagle Scouts who have distinguished themselves in business, professions and public service. Nominees must have been Eagle Scouts for at least 25 years.

Notable Distinguished Eagle Scouts include astronaut Neil Armstrong, President Gerald Ford, director Steven Spielberg and Wal-Mart founder Sam Walton. – Dana McRae
